Comprehensive Eye Exam

Comprehensive eye exams are important for the entire family every year. An eye exam not only allows your optometrist to determine the proper glasses prescription, but can uncover certain systemic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and thyroid disease. A comprehensive eye exam also allows the doctor to evaluate your eyes for cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration, among others. Several eye diseases, if caught early enough, are treatable and able to be managed.

Eye Glasses

Eye glasses are prescribed to correct refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia, presbyopia and astigmatism. Your optometrist will help determine the best lens options for your prescription. This could be single vision lenses, bifocals, or progressive lenses. Computer glasses are made for a specific working distance, and can help prevent eye strain. Don't forget about sunglasses! They allow better vision in bright daylight, and help protect your eyes against damage from UV light.

Contact Lenses

Contact lenses are medical devices that allow you to see without glasses. In most cases, contact lenses are used as a substitute for eyeglasses, allowing you more freedom to enjoy the outdoors, sports, and are perfect for vacations. Contact lenses may also be used to treat certain eye diseases or may be used for cosmetic purposes to change the appearance of your eye color. A contact lens exam is required every year in order to continue wearing them and to assure the health of your eyes.
